Trackside Model Railroading™ DVD & Magazine
Trackside Model Railroading is the magazine for model railroad enthusiasts who want an in-depth view of layouts. We cover two layouts each month, including all fine scales. Our railfanning style includes video of the trains running on the layouts as well as an article and many photographs of each layout we share.
Check out our Blu-ray and DVD tours
We offer some of the layouts we feature on Blu-ray & DVD. The videos are usually 80-120 minutes and have much more video of the layouts and often bonus features that are not in the magazine.

1930s Logging and Mining Operations in Sn3
Come tour Russ Segner's freelanced Coal Creek Lumber Company Railroad, an impressive 19 x 16 foot (5.79 x 4.88 meter) layout based in the 1930s in Washington State. You'll learn about the railroad's operations, see many photos of the layout, and view an onsite interview with Russ. We've featured this layout previously, but this is an all-new shoot showing updates that Russ has made to the layout. The CCLC was built for operations and also has top-notch scenery.
Modeling Germany on a Portable HO 4 x 10
This feature shows off Peter Lofgren's HO scale Schleching, Germany layout. The small showcase layout is based in the 1960s in Bavarian in Southern Germany.
Installing Roadbed on Your Layout
This step-by-step project shows you how to install roadbed on your layout. The project is intended for newer modelers. The steps are shown in detail on an HO scale layout; they can be completed in any scale.
